Deepinder Goyal received an Integrated M.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Delhi in 2005.
Mr. Goyal was born and raised in Punjab. He is an enthusiastic foodie and started an online food ordering portal soon after he graduated from IIT Delhi. At Bain and Company, a consulting firm where he worked for 3 years, Goyal and his partner Pankaj Chaddah, opened a portal on the company’s intranet to display the menu in the cafeteria daily. This idea led them to start a website called Foodiebay.com which eventually became Zomato.
Since its inception in 2008, Zomato has expanded significantly and today, a team of over 5000 Zomans from 32 nationalities helps over 55 million users decide where to eat through 1.4 million listed restaurants in 24 countries around the world. Zomato is now on an ambitious quest to move from being a food tech company to become a farm to table company.
In honoring Mr. Deepinder Goyal, IIT Delhi recognizes his Entrepreneurial excellence. Through his achievements, Mr. Goyal has brought glory to the name of the Institute.
